Feltmaking Master Class. Reversible Felted Tunic or Dress Transformer - 4 days

This muster class is suitable for people with felting experience.

Payment Information: The full price for 4 days of tuition is £600. An early bird rate of £560 is applicable if paid before the 15th of February. Members of the Felt With Lena Club receive a further discount of £40 if booked before the 15th of February.  

Pay in three installments:

First payment: a deposit of £100 paid to secure your place. 

Second payment is paid by 30th of March. 

Third payment, the remaining balance is paid by 30th of April. 

2. Program Schedule:

You will:

• Practice and learn how to create a fine and even wool layout for a large product. 
• Work with different fibres creating a beautiful felt.
• Work with colours, creating a striking collage of patterns.
• Create interesting textures and 3D embellishment. 
• Make smooth and neat felted edges. 
• Work with a sander. 
• Felt and fulling process of a large product.

 The program will include:  

31.05.2024 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

• Morning: Arrive between 8:30 am and 9:00 am. Make a sample practicing the layout. We will practice the layout to learn techniques on how to create an even layout quickly. The quality of felt starts with the quality of the layout. Afternoon: Make a resist of a dress or tunic based on your coefficient of pattern increase. You will receive a few more patterns to continue creating at home. 
• Lunch. Afternoon: Visit Lena's exhibition. Get some ideas for tunic/dress embellishment, such as 3D decorations or any other. Start on a front layout. Silk and decoration are complete.

01.06.24 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

• Morning: Front Layout is complete.
• Lunch.
• Afternoon: Front Layout is complete. Start if possible on a back layout.

02.06.24 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

• Morning: Back Layout is complete. 
• Finishing layout.
• Felting & fulling. 
• Finish the dress or tunic. 
• Let it dry vernignht oto determine if the garment is complete.

03.06.24 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

• Finish the garment. 
• Make required accessories as part of the garment. 
• Dry, iron, ready for photos. 

3. Materials: 

Material will be sent on registration.  

4. Tools:

• Bubble wrap, 2 x 2 meters;
• Resist material for dress or tunic - 3m;
• Water distribution device;
• Sander;
• Any other tools including a roller;
• Net;
• Olive oil soap;
• Towels;
• Rulers and measuring tape;
• Permanent marker; and
• Scissors. 

Please let me know if you are coming from another country and cannot bring tools. 

5. What is included in the price:

• Tuition by Lena Archbold.
• Lunches.
• Endless supply of tea, coffee, and biscuits.  

6. What is not included in the price:

• Materials.
• Other meals.
• Hotel.
• Airport transfers. 

7. Logistics:

The master class will take place at the Arts Centre Washingron. The address: Biddical Lane, NE38 8AB - Link Our venue is at the courtyard and called Craft Workshop.

The nearest hotels are:

• It may be better to get together and share an apartment or a house in the postcode NE38 8AB. Please let me know if you decide to share, and I will check a location.
