About the event

Welcome to a feltmaking master classes with Diana Nagorna hosted by Lena Archbold. Together we will create an unforgatable experience exploring into the exciting world of feltmaking, creating a unique dress lose fit or more fitted, long sleeves or short and then a matching net dress a great accessory to be worn with a dress or any other item in your wardrobe and finally we will create a felted textured tote bag either large, medium or small size. The full expereince, 3 master classes will take place from 28 of May till 5th of June in the North East of England, Biddick Ln, Washington-UK NE38 8AB, UK. We will take a break 1st of June to explore local area, relax and exchange our ideas and experiences.

The full price for 8 days of tutions is £1090. Deposit of £110 to be paid to secure the place.

Pay in three instalements:

2. Pay £490 by 15 of April

3. Pay £490 by 30th of April

The programme will include:

1. FELTED DRESS

28.05.2023 9.00 - 17.00 (or how long it takes to complete)

We will practice the layout, to learn techniques how to do an even layout and be able to make layout fast. The quality of felt starts with the quality of the layout.

We will make a dress pattern.

29.05.2023 - 31.05.2023 9.00 - 17.00 (or how long it takes) 

You will make a layout, add embellishment and finish the dress felting and fulling.

Material List for Dress: 

  • Merino wool 18 - 19 microns - 600 grams main colour 
  • Merino wool 18-19 microns - 150 additional colour
  • Fibers: viscose, muga silk, silk handkerchiefs, optional
  • Fabrics: Margilan rarefied silk - 8 meters

This workshop is suitable for people with felting experience. 

You will be building and be able to modify basic pattern to suit your figure. 

You will create a beautiful fine felted dress / tunic either fitted or free shape, with long or short sleeves

  • Build a dress basic pattern and modify it to your desired size and shape. 
  • Practice and learn how to create a fine and even wool layout for a large product. 
  • Make smooth and neat felted edges. 
  • Work with a sander. 
  • Felt and fulling process of a large product.

1st June - Free Day. We will explore Northumberland.

This day can be spent on your own or as a part of the group. 

2nd - 3rd of June 17.00

2. Making a dress - net and other accessories

Material List for a Net Dress: 

  • Merino wool 18 - 19 microns 200- 250 grams depends on size and length.

You will create a net dress which can be worn as a top deress for a felted dress you create, a neck warmer or a net dress on top of any other garment.

You will learn to create a neat net using Diana's technique. The net dress should be completed in 1.5 day leaving 4 hours to make other accessories, such as belts and spikes to complete a look. 

4th - 5th Of June 9am till 5 pm

3. We will be making a tote textured bag, large or medium or small. 

The difficulty is medium and much more relaxed then when we made a felted water drop bag during Diana's previous workship. You will be working with Bergschaf or corriadale wool, adding merino wool and leftovers of other projects to create beautiful texhtures. You will learn to make steady felted handles to a bag.

Materials:

Bergschaf wool of any colour - 300 grams

Bergschaf wool black colour - 300 grams

Merino wool black upto 23 microns - 100 grams

Tools: 

1. Bubble wrap, 2 x 2 meters

2. Resist material for coat and bag - 4m

3. Water distribution device

4. Sander

5. Any other tools including roller. 

6. Net

7. Olive oil soap

8. Towels

9. Rulers and masuring tape.

 Please let me know if you coming from another country and can not bring tools
